The three-part television series “Melissa” premiered on January 10, 1966, on ARD and achieved a record audience rating of 89% with its third installment. The theme song, released shortly after the premiere on an Odeon single, was very successful, and a re-recording released a little later (Peter Thomas and the Sound Orchestra) reached number 4 in March and remained in the German charts for 8 weeks.
