Lambretta's “Bimbo” is an energetic pop-rock song that addresses jealousy and betrayal, with singer Linda Sundblad describing a confrontation with her partner's affair – a stereotypical “bimbo” figure associated with deception and superficiality. The term “bimbo” comes from Italian, where it originally meant “little boy” or “baby,” but in US slang from 1919 onwards, it first developed into a term for a stupid or brutal man before being transferred in the 1920s to attractive but unintelligent or unfaithful women—an often sexist term that reinforces the narrator's anger in the song. The lyrics mix anger and humor, with lines like “Now she's sleeping in my bed, Oh God I wish that she was dead,” and end in an explosive confrontation about lies and betrayal. Part of the self-titled album “Lambretta,” the track marked the Swedish band's international breakthrough, produced with a catchy, punk sound by Max Martin and others, and reached high chart positions in Europe.
