The melody first appeared in the Merrie Melodies animated short “Sweet Sioux”, which premiered on June 26, 1937. With the beginning of the Looney Tunes series, which started on October 9, 1937, an adapted instrumental version of the main melody of the song became the standard opening credits of this series.
