In 1876, the new text based on the melody of Lapsen laulu was published as the Christmas song Joulupuu on rakennettu in a Finnish school textbook under the title Joulu-kuusi. Finnish music researchers attribute the text to G. O. Schönemann, who also translated Silent Night into Finnish.
