The Theiwesbuer was a public washhouse on Rue de fleurs / Sichegaas in Pafendall in Luxembourg. At the beginning of the 20th century, all the houses on this street were demolished except for the wash house. Some of the residents were left homeless as a result. The song is about the misfortune of these people. The origin of the melody is unknown. Fritz Weimerskirch wrote the lyrics.
