The lyrics and melody of the song were published on April 28, 1898, in the satirical magazine "Strix". However, Emil Norländer found the lyrics too risqué and wrote new ones. These lyrics were performed in the New Year's revue "Den stora strejken". But even with Högstedt's lyrics, the song became very popular.
