Song The Bad In Every Man (1934)

Language
English

The song has a complicated history and three different titles and text versions before the melody was first presented to the public as "The Bad In Every Man" (alternative title "Prayer") in the film "Manhattan Melodrama" on May 4, 1934. Shortly before the film premiere, Lorenz Hart wrote a fourth version of the lyrics entitled "Blue Moon" to the same melody, which was then used as the opening melody for the radio program "Hollywood Hotel". A side story: "Manhattan Melodrama" was the film John Dillinger had just seen when he was shot dead by FBI agents on July 22, 1934 as he was leaving the cinema.
