The Loona project originally performed under the name DJ Sammy feat. Carisma. “Mamboleo” was released under the new name and uses the melody of Herbert Grönemeyer's song Mambo. The German Wikipedia reports: “Lyrically, the Spanish song is about a flirtation between a woman and a man at a party. The original German-language song, on the other hand, tells the story of a driver desperately looking for a parking space on the way to his wife. The original music video in color for Loona's Mamboleo, in which the singer is seen dancing with partygoers on a summer beach, displeased its creator Herbert Grönemeyer, who threatened to withdraw permission to use the melody of his song Mambo. Although the video had already been released and aired on music television channels such as Viva, Grönemeyer managed to get a new music video filmed, a black and white video clip in which singer Loona dances with numerous performers in the middle of an urban traffic jam. Mamboleo made it into the top 10 in German-speaking countries and Loona once again won the Echo for best dance single.”
