The title was first released in this version in flamenco style on the album "A mi me gusta" in 1993. In the same year, the first remixes appeared on the maxi-single "Macarena (Version Maquina)", which were then already similar to the later worldwide success of 1995 (= Bayside Boys Remix).

The title is said to have certain similarities to "'taint What You Do (It's The Way That You Do It)" (1939) by Jimmie Lunceford & his Orchestra with James Young and especially its cover version "It Aint What You Do It's The Way That You Do It" (1982) by The Fun Boy Three & Bananarama.
