WestBam is the abbreviation for Westphalia BamBaataa, because Westphalia is the home of techno DJ Maximilian Lenz. His role model is Afrika Bambaataa. Westbam later moved to Berlin. He is also known as Mr. Y from the duo Mr. X & Mr. Y, who made a name for themselves in 1999 with a track called “New World Order” (which reached number 17 in the German charts). Meanwhile, “BeatBox Rocker” made it to number 13 in the German charts that year.
