Song View

The text of this song comes from Charles Kickham and was first published in September 1859 under the title "Home Longings". He later changed the name to "The Maid of Slieveamon". The patriotic text refers to the politically difficult situation in Ireland after the great famine at the end of the 1840s. The origin of the melody is unknown to us.
