Song View

The song was initially also known by its first line, “Zu Mantua in Banden” (To Mantua in chains). New texts were written by Johann Most under the title “Die Arbeitsmänner (Wer schafft das Gold zutage?)” (1870) and Heinrich Eildermann under the title “Dem Morgenrot entgegen (Die Junge Garde)” (1907).
The song was declared the official anthem of the Austrian province of Tyrol in 1948.
