The song was first performed in the musical of the same name during a rehearsal run on October 11, 1966 at the Shubert Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts. There - as well as during its very successful run on Broadway from November 20, 1966 - Jill Haworth interpreted the song in her role as Sally Bowles in a series of three different theatrical performances.
