Song View

Written in 1897, the song became famous after it was sung by the Euterpean Quartet on September 18, 1901, at the funeral service at the First Methodist Church in the hometown of U.S. President William McKinley, who was shot by an assassin. There are sources that indicate a publication as early as 1887, but this is not substantiated.
